Video Games and The False Sense of Achievement it Induces

Haven’t we been wasting hours and hours on video games?

In return, we received nothing yet, but a false sense of excitement and contentment that has no useful part to play in our real life.

Well, excess of anything is bad and It leads to a certain loss in life.

Videogames are made to be extremely addictive. With the latest and most realistic graphics, It makes a person feel great contentment to win different levels and score various goals.

Storylines are made extremely interesting. Whether is it about the protagonist’s revenge for his father or maybe about eradicating terrorism from a place.

Video games always cast a spell on the players attention, with an enthralling storyline that increases their eagerness to fulfill all their accomplishments.

The appeal of being appreciated for one’s effort plays a big part in framing a fallacious perception of the real world.

Does video games makes us lazy?

All our needs seem to be fulfilled and which has caused a lack of motivation of achieving something in real life and has made modern man tremendously lazy. This has caused a major blow by dissipating our sense of responsibility.

Maslow described the five factors that result in increased motivation as physiological, safety, social, esteem, and self-actualization.

Physiological needs are bottomed of the hierarchy as the most basic and impulsive needs that a human requires. It includes food, water, sleep, and warmth.

Safety needs are those that a man acquires with a secure life structure. Which includes steady employment, better health, safe neighborhood.

In other words, safety needs can be achieved with a reliable environment.

Social needs come third in the hierarchy which involves all the needs for love, affection, and friendship. These needs are fulfilled either by family, friends or a spouse. The absence of such conditions can lead to depression and anxiety.

Once all three needs are satisfied. A man desires to acquire nourishment of self-esteem and confidence. Such need of social worth and confidence falls in the category of esteem needs. These are incredibly beneficial for personal and professional success.

Maslow crowns self-actualization needs in the list of hierarchy. These needs evolve when all the rest of the needs have been achieved. With the presence of such needs all the other necessities of life loses their value and worth.

Self-evaluating needs include pursuing a goal, parenting and seeking happiness.

All the other needs being supportive to the self-evaluating needs become worthless. When every basic need is being comforted with, the person’s priority changes and he aspires for happiness and appreciation.

This is what our generation has fallen prey to. The brain functions to think all the remaining needs such as happiness, self-appreciation and self-achievement can only be obtained by video games.

However, the point to be noted is that no matter how much we play games in an endless loop of daily hours, at the end of the day all that gaming is futile and fatuous.

It has caused nothing but squander of our precious time.

This false sense of achievement has let us frown upon real-life responsibilities. In other words his motivation and concentration has been hijacked by video games.

Well, such time that has been wasted can be utilized daily, to learn a new set of skills or a side hustle to make yourself financially dependent and a high valued personality.
